Amazon has ventured deeper into India's healthcare market with the launch of a new service called Clinic, which allows users to access online consultations for more than 50 medical conditions. The service, priced starting at Rs 299, offers users the opportunity to consult with doctors through the Amazon app, similar to existing platforms like Practo.
Currently available on Android and iOS, Amazon Clinic can only be accessed via mobile devices, with no desktop option yet. To use the service, users must create a profile with basic information such as name, age, gender, and contact details before booking an appointment.
The platform provides flexibility in healthcare access, allowing users to either connect with a doctor virtually or schedule an in-person visit, although in-person appointment options may be more limited. Virtual consultations can be scheduled with available doctors, with each session lasting between 10 to 30 minutes.
Doctors listed on Amazon Clinic specialize in fields like dermatology, gynaecology, paediatrics, nutrition, and mental health counselling. Each doctor on the platform is required to have at least three years of experience in telemedicine. Additionally, Amazon ensures that all medical records from consultations are anonymized and secure.
The service is designed to address non-urgent health issues, making it a convenient option for follow-up care or general health consultations. Depending on the doctor and specialty, consultation fees vary from Rs 299 to Rs 799.
A key feature of the service is the provision of video, audio, and chat communication during virtual consultations, along with a free seven-day follow-up period. Furthermore, users can purchase prescribed medications directly from Amazon's pharmacy store through the app.
Amazon Clinic is being rolled out across India, offering users a new way to access healthcare remotely while also streamlining the process of obtaining necessary medications.
