Apple has strengthened its artificial intelligence leadership by appointing former Google executive Lilian Rincon as Vice President of Product Marketing for AI. The move comes as the company accelerates its efforts around AI-driven offerings, including its Apple Intelligence ecosystem and the evolution of Siri.
In her new role, Rincon will oversee both product marketing and product management for Apple’s AI platforms. She will report to Greg Joswiak, placing her at the centre of how Apple communicates its AI strategy to users and developers worldwide.
Experienced Leadership from Google and Beyond
Rincon brings nearly a decade of experience from Google, where she most recently served as Vice President of Product Management. During her tenure, she led global teams working on major consumer-facing products such as Google Shopping and Google Assistant, both of which rely heavily on AI technologies at scale.
Before joining Google, she held roles at Microsoft and Skype, further strengthening her background in software platforms and communication technologies powered by intelligent systems.
Her appointment follows Apple’s earlier hiring of Amar Subramanya, another former Google executive who now works under Craig Federighi. Together, these hires signal a broader effort by Apple to build a strong internal team focused on advancing its AI capabilities.
Ongoing Restructuring of Apple’s AI Strategy
The leadership addition comes amid ongoing changes within Apple’s AI organisation. Notably, John Giannandrea has stepped down from his role overseeing machine learning and AI strategy, indicating a shift in how the company is structuring its AI initiatives.
Rincon confirmed her departure from Google in a recent LinkedIn post, reflecting on her nine-year tenure and expressing both gratitude and anticipation for the future. Her transition to Apple marks a significant step at a time when competition in the AI space is intensifying across the technology industry.
As Apple continues to refine its AI roadmap, Rincon’s experience in scaling global, AI-powered products is expected to play a key role in shaping how the company positions its technologies in an increasingly competitive market.
