While there have been reports that Apple is launching new laptops and iPads in October, but apparently there won’t be “new” models. There will be only upgraded ones as Apple may announce upgrades to three iPad models this week.
If reports are to be believed, Apple could make an announcement on new iPad updates this week, likely on Tuesday October 17, via a press release. Apple refreshed the iPad Air and 10th-generation iPad last year.
According to another report, iPad Air, iPad mini and the base model iPad are expected to get smaller spec bump updates rather than significant design changes. It also claims that Apple will issue a press release announcing M2 chipset for iPad Air and A16 Bionic processor for the iPad mini.
The base model iPad was last updated a year ago, making it the most recent of the lineup with the A14 Bionic chip and may get the same A16 chip treatment as the iPad mini. The iPad Pro lineup, which was updated in October 2022, will reportedly stay the same for now.
It is rumored that with the iPad mini, Apple is looking to address “jelly scrolling,” a phenomenon that causes displayed content to appear laggy and choppy.
The news comes a few hours after reports claimed that the iPhone maker is working on iPad models with faster chips, but “updates of any significance are imminent.”
