CGTMSE, a key initiative under SIDBI plays a vital role in strengthening India’s MSME ecosystem by providing credit guarantee to financial institutions. The company was facing challenges in maintaining the different siloes within organization and point products of security, leading to the need for a centralized cybersecurity platform.
THE CHALLENGES
There were multiple challenges faced by the CGTMSE team with respect to cybersecurity. Without SIEM, security logs from various sources (e.g., firewalls, endpoints, servers) remained siloed, making it difficult to correlate events in real time, says Mr. Harish Gupta, CTO, CGTMSE. The lack of SOAR meant incident response processes were mostly manually relying heavily on human analysts for triage, investigation, and mitigation, he adds.

In the absence of centralized log management and alerting (a core SIEM function), visibility across the infrastructure was fragmented, and this was a major challenge, says Mr. Harish.
THE BUSINESS NEED
The main requirement by CGTMSE was to have a next-gen cybersecurity solution or platform. To gain real-time visibility into security events across the IT infrastructure, which can help us to identify and address vulnerabilities before exploitation, says Mr. Harish Gupta.
To strengthen the cybersecurity posture at CGTMSE, Alterego as an implementation partner came into the equation. For more than 1.5 years, we have been pitching the best solutions to CGTMSE related to SOC to monitor it and to solve the issues regarding that.

What were the key expectations from the Alterego team in terms of consultation and execution?
The expectation from partners to stitch the stringent line of defence around the perimeter of CGTMSE and ensure the monitoring and governance of the same, says Mr. Harish.
THE SOLUTION OFFERED BY ALTEREGO
CrowdStrike SOC platform was suggested by Alterego Technology. “Our team was confident that this solution would solve the business challenges,” says Mr. Nikunjsinh.
“Being new to the CrowdStrike, awareness on operating the solution and running through the dashboards is a challenge, Alterego team is helping in awareness,” says Mr. Harish.
Alterego team and CrowdStrike team worked together with the CGTMSE team to ensure seamless execution of the project.
A customer success manager should be available from CrowdStrike to ensure the full functional delivery of the solution at the customers place, so far Alterego team is only ensuring the same as Mr. Harish.
For more than 18 months, Alterego Technology have been pitching the best solutions to CGTMSE related to SOC to monitor it and to solve the issues regarding that.
