Famed novelist Stephen King has deleted his Facebook account over concerns that the platform supports a “flood of false information” and fails to protect its users’ privacy.
He said that he is uncomfortable with flood of lies on Facebook.
Announcing his decision to his millions of Twitter followers on Friday, the prolific horror writer joined a chorus of criticism toward the social media giant as it resists pressure to remove false claims from politicians.
"I'm quitting Facebook," King announced to his Twitter followers in late January. His reasons for leaving the service are straightforward. King is concerned with the ‘flood of false information’ that could be caused by Facebook’s policy, not to fact check political ads.
He also said he isn’t confident in the company’s ability to protect the user's policy.
