Unveiled at AWS DevSphere 2025 in Bengaluru, the AI-DLC platform automates coding, testing, and deployment, allowing developers to focus on strategy, and is now freely available on AWS and through custom workflows in Kiro
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced a new artificial intelligence-based methodology, the AI-Driven Development Lifecycle (AI-DLC), aimed at transforming the way software is developed. Unveiled during the AWS DevSphere 2025 summit in Bengaluru, the platform is designed to automate routine implementation tasks—such as coding, testing, and deployment—while enabling developers to focus on higher-level strategy and innovation.
Swami Sivasubramanian, Vice President of Agentic AI at AWS, announced that AI-DLC is now freely available via AWS and can also be deployed through custom workflows in Kiro. He emphasized that the new framework empowers development teams to build and deploy AI agents that accelerate timelines and improve developer productivity.
Global enterprises including Wipro, S&P Global, HackerRank, and Dhan have already adopted the AI-DLC approach. At the summit, Wipro CTO Sandhya Arun shared that her team built four production-ready modules within 20 hours using AI-DLC and Amazon Q Developer—significantly reducing traditional development cycles.
Empowering a global AI workforce
To build momentum around AI-led innovation, AWS also introduced the AI-Native Builders Community, a peer-driven initiative that encourages technology professionals to reskill, experiment, and embrace AI in software development. The community rests on three pillars: nurturing individual AI-native builders, promoting best practices for AI integration, and supporting enterprises to become AI-native organisations.
Further encouraging innovation, AWS launched the AWS AI League, a competitive platform where developers solve real-world business problems using generative AI. Participants stand to win up to $2 million in AWS credits and gain hands-on experience in model fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and customisation.
In its push to democratise AI education, AWS is offering students enrolled in AWS Academy a 12-month free subscription to AWS Skill Builder, aiming to engage 2.7 million students and early-career professionals worldwide. AWS Academy currently partners with over 6,600 higher education institutions, offering cloud and AI curricula to prepare learners for industry certifications and in-demand careers.
With these initiatives, AWS is strengthening its leadership in AI-enabled software development while expanding global access to future-ready tech skills.See What’s Next in Tech With the Fast Forward Newsletter
