AWS suffers outage at US East 2 cloud region
2022-12-12Amazon Web Services suffered an outage at one of its four regions in the US, just after it announced a multitude of new and updated services in its annual re:Invent conference. AWS provides cloud services globally through local data center placements that the company calls regions.
The company said, “Connectivity between instances within the region, in between regions, and Direct Connect connectivity were not impacted by this issue. The issue has been resolved and connectivity has been fully restored.”
The outage lasted for about 75 minutes and resulted in internet connectivity issues to and from the US-East 2 region. Later, AWS released a blog post saying that the issue was resolved. The other AWS regions in the US are based in California, North Virginia and Oregon.
Previously, AWS suffered an outage at the same region in Ohio in July that took down connectivity from AWS EC2 instances and affected several applications such as Webex and Zoom. The loss in connectivity was a result of power failure and the issue was resolved in 20 minutes.
