Bharti Airtel dismisses claims of data breach, report said 375 million users' details up for sale
2024-07-05The telecom company Bharti Airtel has declined claims of any breach of its security system following reports of a significant data leak. As per report, the data of 375 million Indian users was up for sale on the dark web.
“There has been a report alleging that Airtel customer data has been compromised. This is nothing short of a desperate attempt to tarnish Airtel’s reputation by vested interests. We have done a thorough investigation and can confirm that there has been no breach whatsoever from Airtel systems.” an Airtel spokesperson told a news source, clarifying on the reports of data breach that have been doing the rounds.
According to unverified reports, the details of 375 million Airtel customers were allegedly available for sale on the dark web. The details of the customers include phone number, email, address and Aadhaar number.
A threat actor identified as 'xenZen' had reportedly listed a database for sale on a dark web forum, and has sought $50,000 for the information.
