Bharti Airtel has promoted Shashwat Sharma to the position of Chief Operating Officer as part of changes to its management board, according to an update on its official website, and filings to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
With the elevation of Sharma, Sunil Taldar moved to lead transformation for Airtel Africa. Earlier, Taldar was director operations for the India business. The changes were made effective over the past week.
“We wish to inform you that Mr. Sunil Taldar, Director – Market Operations shall be moving to Airtel Africa Plc. as Director – Transformation,” Airtel said in its BSE filing late Sunday.
He has been replaced by Sharma who earlier headed the marketing and consumer business for the telco, and was chief executive of Airtel DTH, its linear TV distribution business.
Sharma’s position has been taken over by Amit Tripathi as Director – Marketing and Customer Experience. Tripathi will be responsible for all of Shashwat Sharma’s portfolio barring the DTH business which has been given to Siddharth Sharma.
