Blue Coat to create Market in Enterprise Application Solution

The expansion of business of the Indian enterprises has led to the emergence of latest trends in the areas of data centre and application consolidation, mobile applications and remote access. Blue Coat Systems, a Sunnyvale, California-based company with Virtual Netcomm Pvt. Ltd. as their value-added distributor in India, is set to exploit the market in these spaces. Currently, Blue Coat is number one in Proxy solution in the Indian market.

Indian OperationsIn the Indian market, Blue Coat is currently focussing on the expansion of its channel base, increasing geographical reach and also widening its reach to various verticals. The company has very well adapted itself to the local market and is of the belief that there is an immense potential, particularly in Proxy solution and URL Filtering. But at present this market is at a nascent stage. According to P. K. Lim, ManagiASEAN / ANZ, Blue Coat Systems,–“The growth of the company is very steady“– although not satisfactory – as the Indian enterprises have so far not shown interest in the secure proxy appliances, because most of them have deployed Linux Freeware for some applications such as email servers. With the increase in the threat of security and the absence of effective support, a difficulty in managing Freeware is arising day by day. The need to filter https rather than just http sites, the market is expected to grow manifold in the next few years.” Speaking about the growth of Blue Coat, P. K. Lim says,”“Compared to the last year, this year 400-per cent growth is registered and 100-per cent growth is expected in the coming years. Though it is just the beginning, we are still to consolidate presence in WAN Application Acceleration. Blue Coat Proxy solution including URL Filtering is highly accepted in the Indian market, specifically in the areas of next generation of SSL VPN and WAN Acceleration.”

The future plan of Blue Coat is to strongly focus on the consolidation of its presence in the Proxy market and target 20 to 25-per cent market share in the WAN Acceleration and SSL VPN segment. The company is also mulling over adding at least 100 new customers and 10 new channel partners by the beginning of the next year.

Built as a management appliance, Blue Coat Director reduces management cost and complexity by providing centralized management of distributed and remote Blue Coat appliances. Configuration, information and security policies are created and managed from a single easy-to-use interface available from any workstation with a Web browser.
