Following completion of interoperability testing as part of Brocade's Gen 5 Fibre Channel programme, ADVA Optical Networking has announced that its 16Gbit/s Fibre Channel (FC) card is the first in the networking industry to achieve Brocade qualification. 16Gbit/s FC card (4WCE/16G) will be a key component for enterprises seeking to evolve their high-density server virtualization, cloud architectures and storage applications. The card is generally available and has already been deployed by a number of financial organizations.
Ulrich Schlegel, Business Development SAN Solutions, ADVA Optical Networking, said, Brocade has an innate understanding of the data center environment, of the data center community. Our engineering team has developed a card that can simply plug-n-play in any Brocade Gen 5 FC environment.
The continued explosion in bandwidth demand, when combined with growing expectations to access data-intensive applications, is driving customer need for the combination of ADVA Optical Networking transport solutions linked by Brocade Gen 5 Fibre Channel technologies. The increased performance of Brocade Gen 5 Fibre Channel technology better enables the functionality of the ADVA FSP 3000 by simplifying network operations and improving network resiliency, said Jack Rondoni, Vice-President, Data Center Storage and Solutions, Brocade.
ADVA’s 16Gbit/s FC card natively supports all Brocade Gen 5 FC features, including the lowest latency on the market. Often, a vital building block in mission-critical networks and highly-virtualized environments, 16Gbit/s FC is vital for enterprises seeking to transport rapidly increasing bandwidth loads at faster speeds.
