Last week Delhi witnessed the hosting of the 10th VARINDIA IT Forum, where a galaxy of officials from Govt. and PSU gathered to discuss the newer opportunities in the Government and PSU sectors in terms of connectivity and the optimal usage in ICT for better productivity. It comes to my mind on how to stay "green" right through the development, logistics and delivery processes, for "Building Sustainability".
Another important aspect discussed was how Cloud technologies will sustain and how enterprises are beginning to roll out their own private cloud networks. Though still in a stage of infancy, Cloud Computing is growing very rapidly, stretching capacities of the infrastructure where it resides. Some companies are pondering if "cloud bursting" or for that matter making use of the resources and capacity of public clouds to handle traffic spikes in private clouds, is technically viable. It goes without saying that cloud computing and its increasing popularity will have several serious implications for mobile networks. With the exponential growth of smart phones and tablets, there is every possibility that more users will demand a service quality at par with their desktops. Hence, mobile service providers will, in immediate future be left with no choice but to roll out or upgrade their networks to handle traffic levels that are far beyond what they are today.
With the recent expansion of Cloud-based services, stage is open for the SMEs to play a bigger role in facilitating economic growth, creating job opportunities and optimizing industrial structures. Since most of the SMEs are operating in such industries where they have to explore and adopt those methods and solutions which result in lower operation costs, flexible management measures and quick market response capabilities, Cloud Computing seems to be an alternative to a great extent.
