Canva has unveiled Canva AI 2.0, its most significant product evolution since its launch in 2013, positioning the platform as an AI-powered “system where work gets done.” The announcement was made at the company’s Canva Create event in Los Angeles.
The update marks Canva’s shift from a design-first tool to an agentic, conversational platform that integrates creation, collaboration, and execution in a single environment. The company said the new system is built on years of investment in foundation models and its frontier AI lab, aiming to help users move from idea to finished output more efficiently.
Canva AI 2.0 introduces a new architecture layer designed to reshape how users create and manage digital work. The platform now supports conversational design, allowing users to generate fully editable layouts through natural language prompts instead of starting from templates or blank pages. The system maintains context throughout the workflow, enabling continuous refinement and iteration.
Agentic Workflows, Memory, and Integrated Automation
A key highlight of Canva AI 2.0 is its “agentic orchestration” system, which allows users to describe a goal and have the platform automatically coordinate tools to produce complete outputs across formats. The company said this enables use cases such as campaign planning, content generation, and multi-format publishing through a single interaction.
The update also introduces object-based editing, which enables users to modify specific elements without altering the rest of the design, while preserving fully layered outputs for collaboration and editing. A new “living memory” feature allows the system to learn user and team preferences over time, automatically applying brand styles and design patterns across projects.
Canva AI 2.0 further expands into workflow automation with connectors to third-party tools including Slack, Gmail, Google Drive, and Calendar. These integrations allow the platform to generate summaries, create reports, and produce content based on external data sources. Additional features such as scheduling, web research, brand intelligence, and spreadsheets aim to make Canva a central hub for enterprise workflows.
The company also introduced upgrades to Canva Code and Sheets AI, enabling users to build interactive experiences, import HTML content, and generate structured datasets using natural language prompts.
Alongside the product launch, Canva announced expanded integration with Anthropic, allowing users to bring outputs from AI systems such as Claude into Canva for editing and publishing.
Canva said its internal AI models are now significantly faster and more cost-efficient than comparable frontier systems, reinforcing its focus on scalable visual AI infrastructure for its global user base.
