The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team has issued a new security warning for Android operating systems. The government body has reported that they have found new vulnerabilities in some versions of Android operating systems and has also classified it as ‘High’ severity.
According to CERT-In’s report, devices running Android 11, Android 12, Android 12L and Android 13 are affected by the newly found vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities can be exploited by an attacker to execute arbitrary code and gain privileges of the device and access sensitive information and cause denial of service (DoS) conditions on targeted devices.
According to the report, “These vulnerabilities exist in Android OS due to flaws in Framework, System, Google Play system updates, Kernel, MediaTek components, Unisoc components, Qualcomm components and Qualcomm closed-source components.”
CERT-In has advised users to install the latest security patches on their device that contain fixes for these vulnerabilities. Users are asked to install the latest update available for their devices, while also noting that the device is running the latest Security patch.
