Ciena has recently expanded its campus in Gurgaon to support the company’s continued growth of research and development (R&D) globally and reinforce Ciena’s market share leadership in India. Adding a second building adjacent to its existing Gurgaon office creates a unified campus that brings together the company’s R&D staff, labs and resources into a single location.
“The Asia-Pacific region and India specifically, are high-growth markets for Ciena. Expanding our Gurgaon campus strengthens our ability to address the networking challenges of customers in the region as they look to deploy more intelligent and adaptive networks that can cater to today’s digital economy,” said Ryan Perera, Vice-President & General Manager, Ciena India. “This expanded facility also gives us the infrastructure to extend our innovative R&D efforts, facilitate stronger customer engagements, and drive greater collaboration across our teams.”
The new additions to Ciena’s Gurgaon campus bring the total space to over 275,000 square feet, including more than 8,000 square feet of advanced research and development labs. The facility now has the capacity for 1,500 people, and features additional meeting and collaborative spaces. The campus also houses a new Executive Briefing Centre to provide training, remote product demonstrations, and videoconferencing for customers and partners alike.
Since opening in 2006, the Ciena India campus is the company’s second-largest location in the world – home to more than 1,200 people approximately and 20 per cent of Ciena’s global workforce. Ciena India also is the company’s largest R&D facility outside of North America, focussing on all of Ciena’s solutions from converged packet-optical to software to packet. The campus also houses additional sales, services and administrative functions supporting domestic, regional, and global operations.
