He further revealed that a significant portion of the INR 10,000 Cr Funds of Funds for Startups will be allocated to the deeptech sector to mobilise “patient capital” to support research-driven startups working in emerging fields like artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and robotics.
At the Startup Mahakumbh 2025 event, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal made key announcements to bolster India’s startup ecosystem, including the launch of a Dedicated Helpline for Startups. This Startups India Helpline aims to empower entrepreneurs by offering a direct platform to report corrupt government officials and lodge complaints related to bribery.
“I am going to start a new desk within Startup India in my ministry, which will be a helpline for any startup anywhere in the country. If you face any problems with government officials, have a suggestion for regulatory reform, call that helpline. If somebody has developed a tool, which is not covered by current laws, that may need a rethinking of existing regulatory frameworks, reach out to us on the helpline,” the minister said.
In addition to addressing unethical practices, the Piyush Goyal Helpline for Startups will serve as a feedback mechanism, allowing startups to suggest regulatory reforms that can enhance ease of doing business in India.
This Startup Helpdesk India initiative reflects the government's commitment to fostering a transparent and innovation-friendly environment. Goyal also announced that a substantial portion of the INR 10,000 crore Funds of Funds for Startups will be directed toward the deeptech sector. This targeted allocation aims to provide “patient capital” to support research-intensive ventures in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and robotics.
These announcements by the minister are seen as strategic moves to drive India’s innovation-led economy and reinforce the nation's position as a global startup hub.
