Datawind becomes the third largest tablet seller in India

The maker of Aakash tablet Datawind has reportedly become the third largest tablet seller in India.

 

July-September stats revealed that Datawind had about 12% market share in India's tablet market. However, this percentage does not include the sale of Rs 2,263 Aakash tablets to the government.

 

As a matter of concern, it is found that Datawind has been facing criticism for missing deadlines to deliver the low-cost Aakash tablet to Indian government.

 

As far as over all tablet market in India is concerned, it is found total of nearly 1 million tablets were sold in India during the three months up to September. To the reader’s surprise, a total of 135 vendors have launched their Tablets till 3Q 2012.

 

Other tablet makers including Samsung and Micromax has also done well business. Samsung is at the first place with a 24 per cent market share. Samsung is followed by domestic tablet maker Micromax which grabbed nearly 15 per cent market share.

 

The report further revealed the information that average value of tablets sold in India during this period was approximately Rs 13,200. Further, it is expected that tablet market is expected to see a 100 per cent growth in 2013 in India.
