Describing the Interim Budget 2014, Deepak Sahu says, "The highlight of P Chidambaram’s second and last budget with UPA II is a reduction in indirect taxes to boost demand in areas as mobile handsets. The restructuring the excise duties on mobile handsets to six percent for all categories will surely encourage the domestic production of mobile handsets and will offer a greater boost to develop the domestic mobile capabilities. The reduction in excise duty would result in the reduction in the acquisition price."
