Delhi Schools to Follow New Bomb Threat SOPs Issued by State Government
Developed by the Directorate of Education, the SOP outlines a four-tier approach—prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.

In response to a high court directive, the Delhi government has rolled out comprehensive bomb threat SOPs for schools to strengthen school safety protocols and ensure swift, effective bomb threat response. Crafted by the Directorate of Education, the new SOPs for schools introduce a robust four-tier strategy covering prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery phases.

Key safety measures under these school emergency procedures include mandatory installation of CCTV cameras, detailed evacuation plans, routine safety audits, and regular mock drills to build readiness among students and staff. Furthermore, schools are required to submit monthly safety checklists to district authorities, ensuring ongoing compliance and transparency.

“Heads of schools will lead emergency responses, coordinating with police, fire services, and disaster management teams. Further, teachers will receive training to guide evacuations, while students are supposed to follow safety protocols and report suspicious activities,” stated Mohinder Pal, Additional Director of Education.

The bomb threat guidelines also emphasize strict consequences for hoax threats, with legal action set against offenders, whether students, parents, or school personnel. These school safety updates aim to create a safer learning environment and foster a culture of vigilance across all Delhi educational institutions.

This new emergency SOP Delhi marks a critical step towards reinforcing security in schools amid growing concerns about potential threats, ensuring that schools are well-prepared to protect students and staff while maintaining calm and order during emergencies.
