
Accenture, a global consulting company, was reportedly hit by LockBit ransomware gang. The hacker ground has set a deadline for the company to pay the ransom. Accenture (ACN)’s encrypted files will be published by the group on the dark web on Wednesday unless the company pays the Ransom, as per the claim by the LockBit.
The hackers said, the pilfered data would be released. Curiously, the hackers also said they were looking to sell the data, making the threat of a public release in just four hours a strange decision.

Another expert said, hackers are able to find the gap in the software and services they offer, where the companies like Accenture charges huge to their customers, without proper security measures undertaken, it is better to pay the ransom, to find out the reason of breach, to save the critical data of the customers.
“Through our security controls and protocols, we identified irregular activity in one of our environments. We immediately contained the matter and isolated the affected servers. We fully restored our affected servers from back up. There was no impact on Accenture’s operations, or on our clients’ systems,” Accenture wrote.

“It has been highly active since it emerged in September 2019 and has impacted thousands of organizations around the world. Many of LockBit’s attack functions are automated, making it one of the most efficient ransomware variants on the market,” Emisisoft wrote in a blog post.
