The Data Security Council of India (DSCI), in collaboration with Privy by IDfy, has rolled out PriView, a free tool designed to help companies draft privacy-compliant notices with ease. This initiative aims to bridge the gap for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups that often lack the legal resources to create clear and regulation-compliant privacy notices.
For many businesses, particularly SMEs, crafting privacy notices is a complex task. They face hurdles in understanding data protection regulations, formatting notices, and specifying the purpose of data collection. Existing global tools often fail to cater to India-specific requirements, leaving companies struggling to comply with privacy laws.
PriView resolves these challenges by offering a user-friendly, intuitive platform. Businesses simply input their name, industry, and the purpose of the notice, and PriView generates a customized, compliant privacy notice. This tool aligns with the granular consent mandates of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, ensuring companies meet regulatory standards efficiently.
The DPDP Act, passed in 2023, empowers Indian citizens to exercise control over their personal data. Organizations without robust privacy governance risk reputational damage and non-compliance penalties. Tools like PriView are instrumental in helping businesses adopt best practices while safeguarding user data and maintaining trust.
Vinayak Godse, CEO of DSCI, emphasized the tool's significance, stating, “PriView equips SMEs, startups, and non-digital native companies to navigate data protection compliance under the DPDP Act. This tool enhances privacy awareness within businesses and ensures meaningful user consent for digital services. Our collaboration with Privy is a crucial step in empowering the industry.”
Ashok Hariharan, CEO and Co-founder of IDfy, said, “PriView marks a milestone in India's journey toward trust and privacy. It empowers businesses to go beyond compliance and build trust in the evolving digital landscape.”
PriView, developed by Privy—India’s first suite of data privacy solutions—addresses the DPDP Act’s requirements, including multilingual notices and integration with sector-specific regulations. By simplifying privacy notice generation, this partnership boosts regulatory adherence and enhances customer trust, paving the way for a more privacy-conscious digital ecosystem.
