Announced at RSAC 2026, the update extends security coverage to cloud environments, enhances threat detection with richer telemetry, and introduces AI-driven tools to simplify investigations and strengthen enterprise cybersecurity operations.
ESET has announced the launch of its Cloud Workload Protection module as part of a major upgrade to the ESET PROTECT Platform. The announcement was made at RSAC 2026, where the company outlined its strategy to extend security beyond endpoints and servers to include cloud workloads, while enabling unified management through a single interface.
The newly introduced module is designed to secure virtual machines across public cloud environments, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. By integrating cloud workload data into the ESET PROTECT XDR platform, the solution aims to provide enhanced visibility for detection and response while reducing operational complexity.
“Many businesses, especially those in the midmarket, as well as MSPs, have been steadily adopting cloud features such as virtual machines to enhance their productivity,” said Michal Jankech, Vice President, Enterprise & SMB/MSP at ESET. “About 80% of organizations regard the public cloud as crucial for their digital business initiatives. With ESET Cloud Workload Protection, we have reduced the attack surface for customers by extending our protection to virtual machines running in AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.”
Enhanced cloud security and compliance
ESET said the Cloud Workload Protection module helps organisations manage security across endpoints and cloud environments within a single platform. Unlike many competing offerings, the company is providing this capability at no additional cost to ESET PROTECT customers, excluding the entry-level tier.
The module is designed to address the growing risks associated with cloud adoption, where the average cost of a public cloud data breach is estimated at $5.17 million per incident. It incorporates AI-driven automation to streamline threat detection and response, while also helping IT teams validate controls and generate audit-ready evidence for regulatory standards such as NIST, CIS, HIPAA, and PCI DSS.
AI-driven enhancements across the platform
Alongside the new module, ESET has introduced several updates to the PROTECT platform. These include AI-powered reporting in ESET LiveGuard Advanced, offering detailed behavioural analysis of threats and AI-generated summaries for XDR-enabled users.
The platform also features improved incident graphs and advanced investigation tools, enabling security teams to visualise attack paths, identify entry points, and track threat progression more effectively. Additionally, the ESET AI Advisor has been integrated directly into the PROTECT console to improve usability and streamline access to security insights.
