To stay safe and sound on email, ESET has issued some security tips for all e-mail users. ESET also conveys that cybercriminals target emails to penetrate into corporate networks and use one's information to convince people they are legitimate.
The key recommendations suggest that the user needs to check the link carefully which is supposed to be clicked. This can be done by hovering the mouse over the link to display a pop-up message with the real link in it. Users need to think before opening any attachment and shortened URLs. They shouldn’t trust professional-looking emails where there is a phone contact number
Moreover, the user needs to be always careful when filling out internet forms, especially around boxes saying, I want to receive information. On Google Mail, they need to scroll down to the bottom right of the PC screen, and then see a list of what devices and apps have accessed the account and when. If in doubt, need to log all of them out and then change password.
