NEC Corporation has announced that Mobile TeleSystems OJSC together with NEC Neva Communications Systems (NEC Neva) is providing a new femtocell service in Siberia. The service, “Consistent Reception” establishes or improves – with the help of NEC Neva’s femtocells - the 3G coverage of corporate customers in facilities where thick walls and steel beams may otherwise obstruct the signals coming from base stations. NEC Neva is providing MTS with a multi-function femto-solution and ensures the technical support of the femto-network. Femtocells – mini base stations for cellular telecommunication - allow users to simultaneously install up to 16 voice connections and reach an Internet access speed of up to 7.2 Mbit/sec using HSDPA technology.
