Former Australian coach Darren Lehman’s Twitter account hacked
Former Australian coach Darren Lehman’s account was hacked on Monday and the hackers posted derogatory remarks against Iran. The hackers have been constantly posting derogatory messages from the handle after changing the profile name and display picture.
Brisbane Heat, the Big Bash League (BBL) team which Lehmann coaches, confirmed the news on Twitter on Monday.
The BBL coach’s account was hacked during his side’s match against Sydney Thunder. The hacker changed his name on Twitter to Qassem Solaemani “F**k Iran”.
Further in a now deleted tweet, the hacker responded to Brisbane Heat’s tweet writing, “I’m not hacked. What the f**k. I quit my job as a coach.”
"Hi Heat fans, thanks for the messages. We are aware our coach Darren Lehmann's Twitter account has been hacked and are working closely with Twitter to rectify the situation. We apologise for any offence caused this evening," Brisbane Heat tweeted.
The perpetrator has so far used Lehmann's account to promote anti-Iran messages and propaganda to his 340,000+ followers. They would send out multiple explicit tweets regarding the country, along with linked images and YouTube clips relating to the suffering of the Asian nation.
Darren Lehman confirmed the report and said his team was in touch with Twitter to rectify the situation.
