Foxconn arm to set up ₹8,800 cr plant in Karnataka
A subsidiary of iPhone maker Foxconn, Foxconn Industrial Internet (Fii) is planning to set up a plant in Karnataka with an investment of ₹8,800 crore. The company's CEO Brand Cheng held a meeting with CM Siddaramaiah on Monday to discuss the same. The project is said to lead to the creation of over 14,000 jobs in the state.
The second plant of Foxconn will be set up on around 100 acres in Tumakuru. The first plant is of 300 acres and is coming up in the Devanahalli area near Bengaluru.
As per the government release, the delegates of the company will be taken to Tumakuru to examine the available land at Japan Industrial Township in Tumakuru.
Fii manufactures screens, outer coverings and mechanical components needed for phones. In this light, CM Siddaramaiah assured that the state has an ecosystem to enable the growth of industries, and that his government would “take the initiative to make available human resources with the required skill sets”.
