The housing project, located near Foxconn’s sprawling manufacturing facilities in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, underscores the company's dedication to creating a sustainable and worker-friendly environment. With an investment of approximately ₹1,900 crore ($230 million), the project aims to provide quality living spaces for thousands of employees working at Foxconn's facilities, including those engaged in assembling Apple products.
The unit consists of six residential blocks holding 10 floors each with two additional blocks for utilities, and it has a total capacity of 18,000 beds. The facility is ready for use by the Apple supplier’s vast women workforce. The newly built housing complex features modern amenities, including recreational facilities like parks, sports complexes, and other leisure spaces to promote a healthy work-life balance. They are also well equipped with security systems, and emergency response units for worker safety.
Foxconn's investment comes at a time when India is emerging as a key player in the global electronics supply chain. Tamil Nadu, in particular, has been at the forefront of this growth, attracting major players in electronics and automotive manufacturing.
Foxconn’s $230 million housing project in Tamil Nadu is a testament to the company’s forward-thinking approach to employee welfare and sustainable development. As India continues its journey toward becoming a global manufacturing powerhouse, such initiatives play a critical role in building a robust and inclusive industrial ecosystem.
