Google has introduced a reverse phone search option, called Lookup, on the Phone app for Pixel phones. The lookup feature will allow users to identify unsaved numbers from their call directory without necessitating use of any third party apps. On tapping the expand option visible on the phone app screen, the user will be shown the “Lookup” button in addition to adding contact, Messages and History.
This enhancement is designed to provide a more seamless and integrated experience for Pixel users, helping them to easily identify unknown callers directly within the native Phone app.
Google has announced that the Lookup feature will be available to Pixel 6 and newer Pixel smartphones, including the Pixel Fold. This means that all Pixel smartphones equipped with a Tensor chip can utilize this feature. The Lookup feature is designed to identify phone numbers that are present in public databases online, such as business-related numbers, but not for personal phone numbers.
According to Google, the feature is already available on most Pixel devices and can be found in the Google Phone app version 132, which is currently in beta. However, the exact timeline for when the feature will be rolled out to all Pixel users remains unclear.
