Google is giving its beloved note-taking app a modern makeover with a new Google Keep update that introduces redesigned, larger widgets for Android users. This marks the most significant visual change to the widgets since Android 12.
As part of the Google Material You update, the iconic flower-shaped Quick Capture widget now spans edge-to-edge across the screen grid. The central Plus button has also adopted a stylish "squircle" shape, giving it a bold new look while making note-taking faster and more intuitive.

Quick capture’s background now hits “all four edges of the bounds of the grid,” which is part of Google’s Tier 1 widget guidelines. Previously, only the ‘plus’ button was housed in a rounded square container. This new widget places everything in shapes, starting with a vertical pill for the plus icon. The other four icons are placed in rounded rectangles.
The 4×1 configuration has the next text note, list, audio, and drawing shortcuts. You have to go to 5×1 for a new photo note, which some users might not like. The flower Material You shape is still available, but has been updated to be larger. Google also updated the 3×1 configuration to be larger.
These Google Keep widgets are not just larger—they're smarter, offering quicker access to notes, lists, and reminders right from the home screen. This update reinforces Keep’s position as a go-to app for anyone seeking effortless organization and on-the-go productivity.
