Google is preparing to roll out a new feature in NotebookLM, its AI-powered note-taking and research assistant, aimed at making learning more interactive and efficient. The upcoming update will add AI-generated flashcards, designed to help users better review and retain information.
The feature, confirmed by Google’s NotebookLM team and first spotted by Testing Catalog, will appear in the Studio Panel alongside existing tools like Audio and Video Overviews. By automatically creating flashcards from user-provided content, NotebookLM will convert notes and documents into study-ready materials, offering a streamlined way to test knowledge and reinforce concepts.
In addition to flashcards, Google is also enhancing Google Drive integration within NotebookLM. Users will soon be able to search across Docs, Slides, and other files directly from the platform, enabling seamless content management and deeper AI-driven insights.
While detailed workflows for the flashcard feature are yet to be revealed, early indications suggest that NotebookLM will analyze uploaded content to create concise, quiz-like prompts. This is expected to benefit both students preparing for exams and professionals seeking quick knowledge recall.
With these updates, Google is positioning NotebookLM as more than just a note-taking app—it’s evolving into a comprehensive productivity and learning hub, tightly integrated with the broader Google ecosystem.
