The Government of Gujarat has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Starlink, the satellite internet subsidiary of Elon Musk’s SpaceX. The agreement was exchanged in Gandhinagar in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi.
The initiative aims to provide reliable, high-speed satellite-based internet to Gujarat’s most remote, tribal, and border regions, where traditional telecom infrastructure faces geographical challenges.

Under the proposed pilot projects, Starlink’s technology will be deployed to link Common Service Centres (CSCs) and e-Governance facilities in Aspirational Districts like Narmada and Dahod. This will ensure that government services reach the last mile seamlessly. Furthermore, the collaboration will bring smart connectivity to Primary Health Centres and tele-medicine hubs, while also upgrading digital infrastructure in government schools, port facilities, and wildlife sanctuaries.
A Joint Working Group comprising state officials and Starlink representatives will be formed to oversee the capacity building of disaster management teams and the integration of robust digital networks across all district control rooms.
The collaboration follows a preliminary meeting held in December 2025 between the state leadership and Starlink Operations, SpaceX Vice President Lauren Dreyer.
