A Round Table conference titled "Strengthening Women Entrepreneurship in India, Role of BMOs (Business Member Organizations) & Associations was held at COWE Trade Carnival 2013, Hyderabad. This meeting was jointly organized by the Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (COWE) and the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts - ZDH/SEQUA.
Dr N. Srilakshmi, Head - Claims & Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre, National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Ni-MSME), said that the industry organizations helped in better management, better income-generating capacity and improved advocacy for women entrepreneurs.
Dr N. Srilakshmi further added, "To better serve the women entrepreneurs, the associations / BMOs should have an online helpdesk to help with various problems. She said that every entrepreneur must know the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act. They must strive to develop indigenous technology, protect their ownership rights through Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and innovate. BMOs (Business Member Organizations) or industry associations as we call them in India are vital for women entrepreneurs. They are crucial to get help from the Government. They provide handholding support to women entrepreneurs, besides providing training and technology-based information."
35 people comprising of COWE office-bearers, officials from the ZDH/Sequa Partnership Programme, officials and members from various industrial organizations such as the Indian Industries Association, Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Federation of Madhya Pradesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FMPCCI), Madhya Pradesh Laghu Udyog Nigam Ltd, Udaipur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UCCI), Madhya Pradesh Association of Women Entrepreneurs (MAWE), Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Karnataka (AWAKE) and others attended the round table conference.
