Hitachi India has appointed N Venu as its new Managing Director, effective June 2, 2025. The move follows Bharat Kaushal’s elevation — Hitachi India's first Indian MD and Corporate Officer at Hitachi Ltd — to Executive Chairman of Hitachi India from April 1, 2025.
Venu will take on this new role while continuing as Managing Director & CEO of Hitachi Energy India and Region Head for South Asia at Hitachi Energy. As MD, he will focus on strengthening Hitachi’s presence in India, aligned with the Group’s new management strategy, Inspire 2027.
A key part of his mandate will be to foster collaboration among the nearly 28 Hitachi Group companies operating in India. He aims to drive digital transformation initiatives, expand the Lumada business, and enhance integration between IT and operational technology to create greater value for customers.
Hitachi, headquartered in Japan, is scaling up its India operations across sectors such as railways, digital solutions, energy, financial inclusion, e-education, and healthcare.
Commenting on the appointment, Executive Chairman Bharat Kaushal said, "N Venu has been pivotal in accelerating growth at Hitachi Energy. His leadership will reinforce our mission to position India as a major hub within Hitachi’s global ecosystem."
With close to 40 years of experience, Venu has led Hitachi Energy in India since its inception in 2019. He also served as Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s Karnataka chapter in 2024–25. An electrical engineering graduate from NIT Warangal, Venu further honed his management skills at IIM Ahmedabad, ISB Hyderabad, and IMD Switzerland.
