In a bid to extend the life of its PCs, HP has announced its refurbishment program in India. The program kicks off initially in India and will then later be available in France. HP has been running a refurbishment program internally, redeploying close to 20,000 devices per year for its own workforce.
The refurbishment program helps HP to keep its devices out of landfills and to reuse them instead of disposing of them. This helps to conserve resources and to reduce the company's carbon footprint. In addition, the refurbishment program helps HP save money on the cost of new devices, as refurbished devices are much cheaper than new devices.
HP claims that every HP-certified refurbished device undergoes a rigorous refurbishment process ranging from memory enhancements to storage expansions, tailored to individual preferences and requirements. The devices are then tested extensively and inspected to ensure optimal performance and reliability. In India, HP will offer a rental model with 6- or 12-month options.
“Since refurbished devices have been shown to have a lower carbon footprint compared to new devices, this program can also help our customers advance their sustainability goals,” said Dave Schull, president, HP Workforce Solutions.
Schull also said that while the program starts with notebooks, HP will build a global capability to scale and expand over time to include printers, collaboration equipment, and other hybrid solutions.
HP is targeting enterprise customers in India to be a part of the refurbished program. The company plans to expand the refurbished program to France later this year with expansion plans for other regions in 2024.
The refurbished program will be available in France this year, expanding to other regions in 2024.
