Successful SMBs are more than just an important component of the economy. SMBs represent an estimated $234 billion in the total addressable market (or 99% of all businesses), according to HP. The company has led the worldwide x86 server market for the past 62 quarters and continues to be the leading choice for SME clients looking to maximize every dollar, watt, hour and square foot in their data centers.
A recent Netscribes report on the Server Market in India pegged server spending in India close to USD 528 million in 2011. Additionally, the report mentioned that the large presence of SMBs in India proves to be a significant driver for the market with SMBs investing a significant portion of their IT budget towards server adoption.
"Industry Standard Servers (ISS) remains the worldwide leader in x86 market share in both revenue and units and is focused on long-term innovation with Moonshot (low energy servers) and Voyager (Gen8)," explains, Vikram K, Director, ISS, HP India.
HP and SMB Synergy…
SMB is a huge focus area for HP. The company has many solutions, advanced technology and an expanded entrepreneur program, that will enable SMBs to drive growth, improve employee productivity and protect assets through greater innovation.
These new integrated solutions built on HP Converged Infrastructure, enable SMBs to access and analyze valuable customer data to capitalize on new trends and opportunities, while rapidly responding to changing business demands.
"HP has also invested an additional $4 million in its global program, HP Learning Initiative for Entrepreneurs (LIFE), which empowers SMEs to create new revenue streams. In Asia Pacific, there are 63 training centres in ten countries, including Australia, China, India, Korea and Southeast Asia. India has 28 training centres. HP in India has created more than 2253 jobs and more than approximately 948 new businesses," asserts Vikram.
HP's offering for the SMBs…
The HP ProLiant Generation 8 (Gen8) servers with HP ProActive Insight architecture- a combination of integrated hardware and software, enable SMBs to speed deployment, drastically reduce management and maintenance, and gain confidence through proactive monitoring and support.
"The HP Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) Management Engine, standard across the HP ProLiant Gen8 portfolio, tracks health, power usage and system diagnostics with HP ActiveHealth and can deliver that intelligence to internal staff or online to a trusted SMB partner. This means less time spent on the server infrastructure and more on the business, helping reduce disruptions for the SMBs,"points out Vikram.
He further adds that SMBs can exploit new business opportunities and meet their customers' growing demands with the HP ProLiant 300e-Series rack-and-tower servers as well as an HP ProLiant blade server offering. These systems drastically reduce required administrator time, lower power and cooling demands, and accelerate application performance, thereby improving business success.
USP of Gen8 Servers…
HP ProLiant Gen8 servers feature HP ProActive Insight architecture, powerful hardware and software that automate every aspect of the server life cycle. At the same time they provide continuous intelligence on server health, power usage and other important diagnostics. Systems are deployed three times faster with 93 percent less downtime during updates.
Integrated Lifecycle Automation reduces administrator time by as much as 69 percent during online updates. It speeds deployment by three times with up to 45 percent reduction of manual steps. Its continuous monitoring of system health improves uptime and speeds root-cause analysis by five times.
The Dynamic Workload Acceleration improves data-intensive storage performance by 100 times with a converged server and storage design that leverages solid-state technologies. Its Unique HP Advanced Data Mirroring and smart algorithms, ensure data is 1000x safer, speeding RAID set up by 95 percent.
Smart analytics and workload-aware intelligence enable Gen8 servers to adapt in real-time to optimize system performance and efficiency. Its Automated Energy Optimization eliminates power configuration errors and manual record keeping by precisely tracking power usage per rack and server. The Gen8 servers reduce energy usage 10 percent, helping administrators identify over-utilized servers based on real-time location, power, workload and temperature data.
The Proactive Service and Support improves uptime by automating the support process with HP Insight Online, a cloud-based, IT management and personalized support portal that is integrated with HP Insight Remote Support and HP services.
Finally…
SMBs are focused on running and growing their businesses, but are often operating with limited budgets and a highly leveraged staff. SMBs need server technology that will allow them to focus on their core businesses and eliminate tedious, manual tasks that take away a lot of their energy that could be put into driving business innovation and growth. They need to achieve all this without having to compromise on performance and functionality, while maximizing uptime. And HP's offerings are just in tune with what SMBs seek.
