Huawei has announced donating Rs 7 crore towards the PM-CARES fund and directly to six other states to support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
Huawei had recently offered to share with Indian authorities technological solutions such as remote temperature monitoring to help contain the spread of Covid-19.
Jay Chen, Huawei India CEO, had told, “We are working on solutions to apply our learnings and experience from China to the current situation in India and help combat Covid-19 with new technology such as remote temperature monitoring.”
The company said 5G+ thermal imaging, which supports contagion monitoring, can accurately monitor a moving object's temperature in real time without contact and issue alerts. The technology was applied in China to curb the spread of coronavirus infection.
Telecom operators such as Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio have already contributed towards the PM-CARES Fund. The Reliance Industries had announced a donation of Rs 500 crore to PM CARES Fund to support the nation's fight against the COVID-19. Bharti Enterprises and its companies -- Bharti Airtel, Bharti Infratel and others are also contributing a sum of over Rs 100 crore for India’s fight against COVID-19.
