India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) has made a series of announcements with an objective to speed up “Make in India” agenda by promoting design-led manufacturing in the Indian ESDM landscape. The association has already signed MoU with Taipei Computer Association (TCA) of Taiwan, India Business Support Center (IBSC) of Japan to be signed soon and initiated talks with Singapore, USA and Israel counterparts. The Indian Industry and DeitY delegation, coordinated by IESA, to Japan is expected to happen during the last week of October and IESA led visit to Taiwan is scheduled in December.
The association has set up International Investment Promotion Cell, to support Government of India’s “Make in India” notion, for encouraging international investments and commitments in the ESDM landscape in the country.
“The investment promotion initiative of IESA will support Government of India’s vision to position India as the next manufacturing destination. While it is evident that the bigger companies will make entries into the Indian manufacturing space, it is the small and medium sized companies from Japan Taiwan, Singapore and other countries that has potential to join hands with Indian counterparts to make the broader impact,” said Ashok Chandak, Chairman , IESA.
Excited and thrilled, Mr. M N Vidyashankar, President, IESA said, “Domestic production of electronics has been a major focus for the new government and it recognizes the need to reduce India's electronics import bill. IESA takes pride in speeding up the start-up community as the initiative will promote indigenous product development in the country and high value addition. We are moving towards the right direction. The gaps will fast bridge between vision and reality for ‘Make in India’ in the ESDM space.”
IESA has provided immense support to various state governments in strategic roadmaps, submission and approval of EMC Applications. The association is assisting Government of Karnataka, Government of Odisha and Government of Maharashtra in this regard. IESA has also supported state Governments of Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Punjab. IESA will also boost the domestic companies that have past startup stage who have the potential to grow exponentially by leveraging the state’s infrastructure.
