By merging AI, IoT, and natural language processing (NLP), Kochadai Technologies is positioning itself at the forefront of the AI-powered IoT revolution in India.
In a significant step towards democratizing hardware innovation and IoT development, Kochadai Technologies, an IIT Madras Research Park-incubated startup, has officially launched MakeGPT, a groundbreaking AI-powered platform that allows users to build Internet of Things (IoT) prototypes through simple natural language prompts. The launch took place during the ‘ZeroToOne: GenAI Product Day’ event and was unveiled by Dr. Palanivel Thiagarajan, Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu.

What is MakeGPT?
MakeGPT is designed to make IoT prototyping easier, faster, and more accessible for both developers and non-technical users. By simply describing an idea in natural language, users can create working prototypes complete with component lists, firmware code, and assembly instructions.

For instance, a user can simply type:
“Create a soil moisture monitoring system that sends alerts to my phone when plants need water.”
MakeGPT will then generate the entire IoT system design, including hardware components, assembly guide, and firmware code – eliminating the need for deep technical expertise.
Key Features of MakeGPT
Natural Language-to-Hardware Interface – Conversational AI for effortless project creation.
Automated System Generation – Automatic selection of required IoT components.
Real-Time Design Iteration – Interactive, dialogue-based refinements.
Educational Insight Mode – Explains hardware functionality for learning and upskilling.
According to Naveena Swamy, Founder of Kochadai Technologies, the tool is a step towards no-code hardware development and AI-driven IoT prototyping. “We are democratizing hardware innovation. Anyone can now create smart IoT solutions using AI without needing advanced engineering knowledge.”
The launch of MakeGPT aligns with the growing adoption of Generative AI and IoT in India, making Tamil Nadu and IIT Madras significant contributors to the AI innovation ecosystem. With industries increasingly integrating IoT into smart cities, agriculture, manufacturing, and healthcare, tools like MakeGPT are expected to empower startups, researchers, and hobbyists to innovate faster.
