Infosys has decided to go ‘Vocal for Local’ the long way. The company has hired 78% of their senior employees and management staff from local resource pools, and this speaks volume about their commitment to encourage local talent, anywhere they go. While sharing their 13th Annual Sustainability Report 2020, Infosys has informed that they hired 78% of senior management employees locally, from across the world.
Infosys said, “We are committed to strengthening local hiring practices and continuously increasing the proportion of senior management hires from the local regions of our operations.”
Besides, hiring locally also helped Infosys to “significantly de-risking our operations from regulatory changes related to immigration policies.” For the financial year 2020, Infosys hired a total of 6932 employees locally across the globe, out of which 2035 were freshers.
Infact, 92% of all hires made by Infosys across the various campuses in India and internationally were local hirings. This includes local hiring in Mauritius, Germany, the UK and the US.
In Australia and Europe, Infosys is heavily invested in hiring local talent for filling their internship positions as well.
By hiring local talent, say in the US or UK or Germany, Australia and other nations, they are avoiding the hassles of getting work visas, especially in the US.
It’s not only Infosys which has gone big time for local hiring, but also companies like TCS, Wipro, HCL and Tech Mahindra, which have ramped up their local hiring in the US and Europe.
TCS had announced last year that they will hire 1500 Americans for their US offices, and overall, they have hired 20,000 Americans in the last 5 years. They employ 4.5 lakh employees in India alone.
Infosys, along with Wipro and TCS have been the flag bearers of local hiring in the US.
