
Ingram Micro has recently identified ransomware on some of its internal systems. The information technology company said in a statement that it took steps to secure the relevant environment, including taking certain systems offline. The California-based company also launched an investigation with the assistance of leading cybersecurity experts and notified law enforcement.
“Ingram Micro is working diligently to restore the affected systems so that it can process and ship orders, and the company apologizes for any disruption this issue is causing its customers, vendor partners, and others,” the statement from the company read.
The $48 billion distribution behemoth, which notified law enforcement has also “apologised” to customers, vendor partners and others for any “disruption” caused by the incident.
Ingram Micro's outage started Thursday morning, with the website going offline and customers unable to place orders. Some of Ingram Micro's internal systems also remained inaccessible to employees.
On Sunday morning, users visiting the company’s website were met with the message “Ingram Micro is currently experiencing a cybersecurity incident, for more information ‘click here’,” which directs users to their official statement about the incident.
Among systems impacted are Ingram’s flagship AI-powered Xvantage platform and the Impulse license provisioning platform, according to the website Bleeping Computer.
