Instagram faced massive outage across globe
2022-09-24Social networking service Instagram was down for thousands of users worldwide. Users complained about the feed not working, problems with checking DMs, and more.
As per DownDetector, 66 percent faced app crashes, while 24 percent users faced server connection, and the rest of the 10 percent found it difficult to log in. Additionally, some Instagram users were unable to open Stories, receive or send direct messages, or load new posts on their feeds.
People took to Twitter and #instagramdown soon started trending. From memes poking fun at the app closing instantly after opening to Instagram employees finding it hard to fix the bug, there were many funny reactions on Twitter.
The Twitter handle of Instagram also confirmed the issue and apologised for the inconvenience. It tweeted: “We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing Instagram. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience, and hang tight! #instagramdown.”
Last year, Instagram launched a feature to notify users of outages or technical issues directly on the photo-sharing app, just two days after two outages disrupted the social media giant’s services.
