Meta-owned Instagram is rolling out the ability to schedule Direct Messages (DMs). The new feature is quite useful for individuals who want to schedule memes and text messages to ensure that they see it when awake and for creators who want to reach out to their followers at a certain point in time. Meta, in a statement, confirmed that the new functionality is currently being rolled out to everyone globally.
To schedule DMs on Instagram, users just type out the message and long-press the send button until the ‘Schedule message’ overlay appears.
Here are the steps to schedule DMs -
· Start by typing out a message and holding down the send button
· Now the user needs to select a date and time to send the message.
· Once a message is scheduled, the user will see a banner for notification. This will notify that the user has “1 scheduled message”. This will happen every time the user opens the chat until the DM gets delivered at the scheduled time.
According to some testers, Instagram will allow users to schedule a message up 29 days in advance.
The new option to schedule DMs will be useful for brands and creators who want to schedule outreach messages at optimal times. Also it can be beneficial for regular users who want to reach their friends at a certain time due to different time zones.
