Meta is pushing forward with its vision of the Metaverse with the release of Meta Motivo, a new artificial intelligence model designed to make digital avatars more realistic and interactive. This advancement aims to improve the way virtual characters move and interact, creating more lifelike experiences in virtual worlds, gaming, and animation.
Meta Motivo addresses common issues with avatars’ movements, such as unrealistic or robotic motions, by enabling avatars to move in a more human-like and natural way. By mimicking the intricacies of human movement, the AI model is expected to enhance immersion in the Metaverse and improve user engagement in virtual environments.
The model’s key innovation lies in its ability to generate realistic, human-like motions without the need for extensive labelled data, unlike traditional methods that require specialized training for each task. Meta Motivo is trained on a broad dataset of unlabelled motion data, allowing it to observe a wide range of human movements and learn from them. This enables it to perform complex tasks like motion tracking, object interaction, and whole-body control without task-specific training.
Meta claims that Meta Motivo outperforms traditional methods in terms of competitive performance, including unsupervised reinforcement learning and model-based approaches. The model’s ability to produce human-like behaviour sets it apart from existing technologies and positions it as a crucial step toward more dynamic and authentic virtual experiences.
In addition to Meta Motivo, the company introduced Meta Video Seal, an open-source framework for watermarking AI-generated videos. This tool allows creators to embed invisible watermarks, helping verify the origin and authenticity of videos. By doing so, Meta aims to combat misinformation and prevent the spread of manipulated content, further supporting the responsible development of AI technologies.
These initiatives reflect Meta’s ongoing commitment to creating immersive, trustworthy, and innovative experiences within the Metaverse.
