Intel finally names Bob Swan as its CEO
2019-02-04
After half a year's search, Intel has announced that its board of directors has named Robert (Bob) Swan as chief executive officer. Swan, 58, who has been serving as Intel’s interim CEO for seven months and as chief financial officer since 2016, is the seventh CEO in the 50 years of Intel's operation. Swan has also been elected to Intel’s board of directors.
It has been reported earlier that Swan did not want the job. Shareholders will be watching for Swan to continue diversifying Intel’s portfolio outside of the PC business.
As the chief financial officer, Swan’s role within Intel was often behind the scenes. To many, he was a closed book. Intel’s message while announcing Swan is that of a guy who is determined to stay on course.
Todd Underwood, currently the vice president of finance, will take over as interim CFO while the company searches for a permanent CFO.
