Apple is set to unveil its iPhone 17 series on September 9, 2025, introducing the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. But while new devices are grabbing headlines, Apple fans face a reality check — the tech giant is preparing to discontinue six popular products, including older iPhones and Apple Watches.
iPhones on the chopping block
iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to be retired immediately after the launch of the new Pro models. Apple has a long-standing trend of discontinuing older Pro devices.
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are also likely to vanish from Apple’s official store. Retailers may offer limited stock with heavy discounts during events like the Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale or Black Friday, but availability will be short-lived.
Apple generally continues the non-Pro models at reduced prices. This means the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus could still be available, making them the best value-for-money options for budget-conscious buyers.
Apple Watch lineup shake-up
Alongside the iPhone 17, Apple is expected to launch the Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3. This move could mark the end of the Apple Watch Series 10 and Ultra 2. The Apple Watch SE may continue without an upgrade.
If you’re eyeing one of the outgoing devices, now is the best time to buy. After September 9, discontinued models will quickly disappear from Apple stores, with limited retailer stock available only at short-term discounts.
