Digitization in education provides a very strong platform for growing PC penetration in India as the country comprises of one-fifth of the world’s youth population. This leads to the need for strong growth in the Indian educational system. As a result, many State Governments are adopting the Student PC distribution schemes in India.
As per a recent update, Iris Computers has announced bagging 15,900 Lenovo laptops order worth Rs.25 crore from the Education Department of the Goa Government for its CyberAge project. The Education Department was planning to distribute 15,900 laptops to all higher secondary school students in Goa. The share of Iris Computers was 4,000 laptops as there were three other distributors.
Sanjiv Krishen, Chairman, Iris Computers, said, We were able convince all the partners who had won this prestigious order from the Goa Government to procure the Notebooks from Iris and we could get the entire 15,900 laptops package for Lenovo. Our extra effort succeeded and we obtained the Rs.25-crore deal.
Rahul Agarwal, Executive Director, Commercial Business, Lenovo India, said, We see strong growth in education, and expect it to grow in size and scale over the next few quarters. With our stronghold in the PC segment, we believe that we have a winning combination with Iris. We have been associated with Iris Computers for many years now. They have actively contributed in closing business and we value our relationship.
Iris Computers being a T1 Partner of Lenovo shall be executing the entire deal on behalf of Lenovo.
