'Iris', India's first AI teacher, is introduced in a Kerala school

The introduction of Iris, Kerala's first generative AI instructor, is another creative move. Iris, which was created in partnership with Makerlabs Edutech Private Limited, represents a substantial step forward in the application of artificial intelligence in the classroom. Iris is a humanoid that was unveiled at Thiruvananthapuram's KTCT Higher Secondary School with the goal of improving students' educational experiences.

Makerlabs shared a video of Iris on Instagram, showcasing its potential to transform education. "With IRIS, we've set out to revolutionize education by harnessing the power of AI to create a truly personalized learning experience," they wrote.

The video demonstrates Iris's interactive capabilities and its role as a versatile teaching tool.

Built under the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) project initiated by NITI Aayog, Iris boasts a range of features aimed at revolutionizing traditional teaching methods.

With the ability to speak three languages and tackle complex questions, Iris offers a personalized learning journey for each student. Its features include voice assistance, interactive learning modules, manipulation capabilities, and mobility, making it an invaluable asset in the classroom.

Makerlabs envisions Iris as more than just a robot; it's an innovative voice assistant tailored for educational environments. Powered by Robotics and Generative AI technologies, Iris promises seamless performance and responsiveness.
