A surprising revelation has surfaced the tech terrain. According to the recent report, Apple(NYSE) may have to pay a Brazilian company for the right to use the iPhone brand in Latin America's biggest country.
It is reportedly said that Brazil's Gradiente SA started selling Android smartphones with the iPhone brand last week after winning the legal right to use the name in Brazil.
Eugenio Staub, President at Gradiente has shared his views. He said, “Apple had not contacted his company even after knowing we were given the right to use the iPhone brand."
According to Eduardo Tude, President of Brazilian telecommunications consultancy Teleco, “The most likely scenario is that the two companies will reach an agreement whereby Apple will pay Gradiente for the use of the brand".
It is quite possible that Apple will be agreed to the agreement or buy the company because it doesn't want to stop selling its product in Brazil, industry experts added.
However, it is difficult to say anything on this for now as Apple spokeswoman Maria Parra Rodriguez said the company would not comment on the matter. So, stay tuned to get more updates on this.
