The Karnataka government is set to introduce its own Artificial Intelligence (AI) Mission, aligning closely with the Centre’s IndiaAI initiative. The state’s upcoming Karnataka IT Policy 2025–30 is expected to include this mission, aimed at promoting responsible AI development, regulation, and innovation across sectors.
Priyank Kharge, Karnataka’s Minister for IT & BT, recently highlighted the urgent need to regulate generative AI technologies while encouraging their ethical and innovative applications. As AI-powered tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and DALL·E gain widespread popularity in India, state-level frameworks are becoming crucial for governance, accountability, and digital safety.
“We cannot ignore the growing impact of generative AI on industries, education, and governance. It’s time to establish a clear AI policy framework that balances innovation with responsibility,” said Kharge.
