Kaspersky to safeguard Android Smartphones
2013-09-24
The number of Internet-enabled mobile devices keeps growing at a faster pace day by day. Thus, with more people using mobile devices, more cybercriminals are taking an interest in them. They are using various types of malware to steal personal data from smartphone and tablet users, automatically send text messages to premium-rate numbers, and use mobile devices to spread spam. To combat these threats, Kaspersky has introduced a protection solution for smartphones and tablets running on Android named Internet Security for Android.
This solution safeguards smartphones and tablets from all types of malware by combining traditional signature-based antivirus protection with real-time updates via the cloud-based Kaspersky Security Network, and a set of integrated proactive behavioural technologies. In addition, Kaspersky Internet Security for Android provides protection for web browsing by detecting and blocking links to phishing sites and pages that distribute malicious programs. It integrates a mechanism that can check the links in the text messages before they are opened.
Jagannath Patnaik, Director Channel Sales, South Asia, Kaspersky Lab, stated, Last year, we saw tremendous increase in the attacks targeted towards mobile devices with 99% of them targeting Android devices. Mobile devices need the same protection as PCs. Kaspersky Internet Security for Android replaces Kaspersky Mobile Security and Kaspersky Tablet security. It is a single application that works on smartphone as well as tablets and delivers powerful, effective protection for Android smartphones and tablets.
Kaspersky Internet Security for Android can be downloaded from the Kaspersky Lab website or from Google Play. It is available in two versions free and premium.
